  1. Phantom Island - King Gizzard (hence username). Amazing, one of their best.

Always start with The Great Annihilator For light(er) stuff, the trifecta of Burning World / White Light / Love of Life is amazing. Soundtracks is too much to digest immediately but it’s arguably their masterpiece; another side of GA/STFB is shown on the live (and incredible) Swans Are Dead. The earlier, punishing stuff (Filth through Children of God) is all amazing and what they’re known for. Don’t miss any of: Filth, Cop, Public Castration, Children of God. That about covers it.

You’re right about relevance - I mean, Letting You could have been written today. And the YZ concept gets realer and scarier every minute, digging deep into the ARG/websites is a real experience. The Slip is great, and underappreciated as a cohesive record IMO. Is your username a combination of Echoplex and Corona Radiata? I like it.

Yup, I’m in that overlap. Glad to see this thread. Love Swans, honestly haven’t dug into the post-2010 the way I have with the pre-1997ish, but I have listened to almost everything from that time - just not over and over like, say, Soundtracks, or Public Castration. Incredible band, of course.

Great. Definitely recommend immersing into the lyrics and art if you can, it helps get the message across. See if you can find the Digital Poster out there, google search should do it - really cool expanded presentation of the lyrics/credits in lieu of liner notes.

The Fragile is held in high regard - and I tend to consider it my favorite - but listen at your own risk, it is very long. Lots of similarities to Spiral, but a lot more instrumental “filler” tracks and a wider range of emotion. Total 10/10 for me, but takes a lot to get into. For modern NIN but an easier undertaking, I highly recommend With Teeth and Hesitation Marks.

Anyone else quite excited about the new NIN tour? I got into NIN shortly before Radiohead (2022ish) and haven’t had a chance to see them yet, but I will be attending the show on September 2 at Barclays. They have had a profound impact on my life, like Radiohead. Last night’s setlist from Dublin was absolutely unbelievable. Here is great audio of the show, and here is video. What do you all think of NIN? Anyone have a favorite song/album or experiences to share? For me, I love just about everything, but With Teeth is a very special record to me; same with Year Zero and The Slip. The art and concepts behind all of these are very intriguing. Also want to appreciate How to Destroy Angels; a side project consisting of Trent, Atticus, and Mariqueen (wife of Trent) on vocals. So basically NIN, but with a Tori Amos-like touch. (Another one of my favorite musicians, btw.) Don’t miss HTDA (2 EPs, one full-length).
